CineCircle ("we", "us", "our") helps movie fans in South Africa find showtimes and organise watch-party groups with each other. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the app, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using CineCircle, you agree to the practices described here.
2. Information We Collect
We collect the information you give us directly — your name, email address, and any content you post (group descriptions, discussion posts, chat messages, poll votes). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from that account. We also automatically record basic activity data, such as which groups you join and when you use the app, to keep the service working correctly.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to run the core features of CineCircle: creating your profile, matching you with watch groups, showing you relevant showtimes, powering the discussion board and group chat, and sending you in-app notifications. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
4. Sharing Your Information
Your display name and the content you post publicly (group listings, discussion posts) are visible to other CineCircle users by design — that's how watch groups work. We share information with service providers who help us run the app (such as our database and authentication provider, Supabase) only as needed to operate the service, and we may disclose information if required by law.
5. Data Retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the details below and we'll action that request.
6. Your Rights
Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information, and to object to certain uses of it. To exercise any of these rights, contact us below.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures (including encrypted connections and access controls) to protect your information, but no system is 100% secure. Please use a unique password for your account and contact us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access.
8. Children's Privacy
CineCircle is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know via an in-app notification.
